Consumers Fact Sheets Published

As part of the ongoing information campaign on consumers’ rights, the European Commission has just published a number of Fact Sheets on various topics directly related to issues commonly faced by consumers. The fact sheets are written in simple language and are aimed at addressing the concerns of Maltese consumers on every day life situations such as on consumers’ rights when taking up a loan or when buying on credit or the rights of consumers when buying goods and the rights of consumers when their flight is delayed, overbooked or cancelled – just to mention a few examples.

Personality Ray Calleja, who is the face of the European Commission’s consumers’ rights campaign in Malta, is also visually displayed in the branding of the fact sheets. The European Commission’s campaign on consumers’ rights is an objective and entertaining campaign that seeks to educate and inform the public about their consumer rights as EU citizens and seeks to encourage consumers to assert these rights.

The fact sheets are printed in Maltese and are available from the Consumer House in South Street Valletta, the Forum Malta fl-Ewropa in Republic Street, the European Commission Representation in Ta’ Xbiex, the Consumer and Competition Division in St Venera, the European Parliament Office in Valletta and the Europe Direct offices in Floriana. They will also be distributed to consumers during activities that will be organised over the coming months to raise awareness about consumer rights.

An electronic version of the Fact Sheets, available in both Maltese and English, can be downloaded from the information campaign web pages within the website of the Consumers’ Association on www.camalta.org. As part of the consumers’ rights information campaign, the European Commission is also preparing an informative publication in Maltese and English that will be distributed door to door to all households in Malta and Gozo in the coming weeks. A special publication which will focus on the obligations of the business community towards consumers will also be distributed to all businesses in February.
